Kansas Authors Club, District 6
Election January 26, 2019
“A year ago I was running away from the presidency;
this year I’m running for the presidency.”
–Jim Potter
For the past year I’ve been working towards the goal of a functional and fun club. My number one priority has been to grow the club through guests and new members. I’ve contacted and scheduled the speakers for the club meetings, communicated with the media and members through newspaper, magazine, radio, and social media, and I’ve contacted school personnel to promote our annual Youth Writing Contest. In 2020, District 6 will host the KAC convention in Hutchinson. I’ve been working on the Convention Committee with special emphasis on inviting speakers for our proposed workshops.
After being encouraged to run for District 6 President by club members, I’ve agreed to be nominated. Members want me as the spokesperson for the club. If elected, I promise to continue giving my 100% effort to grow a healthy service organization. The mission includes providing support for creative, technical, academic and journalistic writers, plus providing educational workshops at district meetings.
If elected, you will be hearing a lot more from me about our Hutch 2020 convention. As Chairperson of the Convention Committee, I, and others, will keep you informed of our progress but also request your ideas and your commitment to assist in this opportunistic endeavor.
I present to you the following club members who are current with their 2019 dues. They have stepped forward and are eager to work collectively as a cohesive team while serving you as officers:
President – Jim Potter
Vice President – Phil Wood
Secretary – J. Alex Potter
Treasurer – Kimberly Simmons
Only District 6, Kansas Authors Club members in good standing may vote.
Your vote is appreciated!
Thanks, Jim Potter

If I was a District 6 member, I’d vote for you in a shot, Jim. You have worked hard to promote KS Authors in your district. In you, they have had and will have a dedicated leader.
Nancy, thanks for your vote of confidence! We have a team off officers who are ready to rock & roll! Jim
